About me
Hi...I am Tauhidur Rahman, a MSc student of department of Electrical Engineering at University of Texas at Dallas. I completed my Bachelor's Degree in October 2009 from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology(BUET) from the department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
Before my BSc studies in BUET, I was in Notre Dame College Dhaka where I got the opportunity of competing with some of the most brightest talents of the country. In the year 2004, I completed my HSC from this reputed college with a GPA of 4.9/5.00.
About school days, well...those were flamboyant ones. I actually read in Savar Cantonment Public School and College. I got my secondary school certification from this School in the year 2002 with a GPA of 4.88/5.00.
My current research areas and interests include Speech, video and multimodal processing,Multimodal human-machine interfaces, Affective computing, Machine learning for Multimodal Systems etc. One other philosophy of mine is that I don’t want to be a Tube researcher who can just work in a certain research area and spirals inside his tube of knowledge. I believe that the beauty of knowledge lies inside its versatility. One can successfully enjoy this beauty of creation of knowledge once he can successfully uses knowledge of several sectors to solve problems of humanity. I keenly feel the importance of having multifaceted knowledge because of the highly intertwined nature of engineering and technological progress. So I don't want to get confined in one narrow field of engineering research and studies.
Goethe Institut, Bangladesh is one of the most important facets of my life. I worked there for about 1.5 years as a German language Teacher, where I conduct classes consisting about 25 students. Previously I have learnt German from this institute and received scholarship where I received further training on German language in Germany. I received travel grant and Subsistence grant from Goethe Institut which is internationally famous institute for German language training. So these are the reasons why an inclination for teaching was born in me. I love to take classes. For the betterment of my teaching I also got training about “Teaching Technique” from Goethe Institut, Goettingen. I feel I have an innate ability to convey basic and new concepts and motivate students to explore and research.
Lots have been said about studies and research works. But I am not a 'all work and no play' kind of bloke. My non-academic activities are multifarious. I am a passionate lover of music and sports. I love contemporary Bangla and English songs. I also have performed in several occasions on stage. To be honest, I have never been that much of an athlete. But I have often played the games of cricket and football. These days I enjoy playing table tennis. I am a keen follower of international and political affairs.I have some knack for writing as well. I love learning foreign languages; motivation: penchant for communicating with people. This can also explain why I love to travel. Traveling is my hobby. I have visited a lot of locations in Bangladesh including Cox’s Bazar Sea beach(The longest beach in the world), Tea garden in Sylhet, Chittagong Hill tracts, Sunderban etc. I have also traveled in Malaysia, Nepal, India and Germany. Some nice photos can be found in the Photo Gallery. So get started and be linked. Explore the site and know me better. Bon voyage :)
